THE BOX

The aerobatic box is the area in which aerobatic competitions take place. It is a block of air 3,300 feet long (1,000 meters) by 3,300 feet wide. The upper and lower limits of the box are set based on the competition category a competitor is flying in. The competitor has to stay within the lateral and heigth limits of the box.  During competition, there are boundary judges in place who determine when a competitor leaves the box. Boundary infringement penalties are subtracted from the score in such cases. The dimensions of the aerobatic box are as follows:

The lower limits of the box are, for safety reasons, strictly enforced
